Stephen Gately was born in Dublin, Ireland on 17th March 1976. He was a man of many talents - a singer, an actor, a songwriter and bestselling author - but someone who was probably best known for being part of one of the biggest boybands of the 1990's, Boyzone.
Sadly Stephen passed away suddenly but peacefully at just 33 years old at his second home in Mallorca from an undiagnosed heart condition on 10th October 2009 leaving his husband, family, friends and fans mourning the loss of this hugely popular, talented, warm, funny, kind and generous man. Through his love, his friendship, the joy he brought to people through his music and performances and his courage he has touched the lives of many people across the world.
Stephens official website continues here and will gradually build into a complete history of his career for those interested in finding out more about him, or who are looking for a reminder of some of the things he did in his life.
But we don't just want this to be a site people visit occasionally. We want this to be a site which is active and helping to keep Stephen's memory and name alive. Stephen was an Ambassador for Caudwell Children, a charity he was passionate about supporting. Over £41,000 has been raised following his death as Stephen's husband, Andrew, asked for donations to this charity instead of flowers for his funeral in Dublin and following a memorial concert in London. Stephen's fans are keen to raise money for Caudwell Children on an ongoing basis so this site will now also become a place where fundraising events by his fans will be advertised and we can support Caudwell Children's own fundraising initiatives as well.
So come and have a look, meet up with some other Stephen fans through the fan forum, chatroom and events and help us remember the legacy left by this very special man.
